EarthOptics is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our team. A Technical Product Manager at EarthOptics manages the multi-team development and delivery of a large portfolio of complex, technical initiatives by gathering business goals and then working with the engineering and operations teams to define technical requirements and product features.  They are accountable for developing and managing a comprehensive tactical plan for the engineering team that meets critical milestones on the product roadmap. A Technical Product Manager manages all stages (from concept to delivery) by effectively partnering and communicating with customers, internal stakeholders, and developers.  By defining a clear and shared set of goals and objectives across all departments, the Technical Product Manager drives decisions about technical priorities, software architecture, and resource allocation in order to maximize the company’s ability to meet multiple, critical product deliverables. 

Reporting to the SVP of Software and Data Engineering, the Technical Product Manager acts as a liaison between the engineering and business, sales and operations teams to prioritize the development of products.  They are responsible for ensuring that requirements are fully understood across departments, and that implementation plans match expectations.

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Work Location: This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in the US.

What your responsibilities will be:

  • Build consensus on the product roadmap in collaboration with executive leadership, business/sales, engineering, operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Report product status changes, and risks to stakeholders across the company.
  • Provide internal and customer training on how to use the product.
  • Interview existing and potential customers to understand their needs and create user stories that inform product features.
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance, and coordinate beta tests.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential product opportunities/new market gaps.
  • Execute and manage the product vision by working with the engineering team to translate business requirements into technical requirements and product capabilities.  
  • Understand the architecture of the systems (e.g., data pipelines, algorithms, automated processes).
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and bottlenecks that can block delivery.
  • Coordinate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
  • Serve as a representative of product owners in the Scrum process.
  • Participate in the hiring process and mentor others. 

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management, with an emphasis on data oriented products
  • Experience in managing all stages of the software development lifecycle, from initiation through development and delivery, to operational support. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to describe product needs and status to all levels of organization
  • Experience with project management and other software tools such as JIRA, Aha!, and Confluence
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities, and communicate issues in a timely manner
  • Proven experience in delivering software and data products
  • Ability to work with teams across several time zones

  • Experience in Agronomy or Environmental Science
  • PMI certifications
  • Knowledge of AWS technologies and solutions
  • Prior experience with AI/ML products
